New Haven rock trio, The Problem With Kids Today (TPWKT) has made it clear that no one can keep them from what they love with their latest single, “All I Wanna Be.”

“All I Wanna Be” is the fourth and final single before the release of their upcoming record, “Born to Rock,” set to be out this Friday, February 9th. After previously releasing singles, “What Else Could I Say” and “Speed Freak,” the anticipation for this upcoming release is high.

The track kicks off with a soft melodic intro before hitting your ears with one of their catchiest guitar riffs yet. Maintaining the band's unique blend of modern rock and pop, the tone of “All I Wanna Be” has a fun 70s edge. Its spunky melody, raw instrumental, and relaxed delivery of the chorus cement the loose candor of the song reminiscent of the summertime.

So many of us dream about the day we can throw in the towel and pursue our passions relentlessly. While not everyone may attain that level of freedom, one thing remains certain—TPWKT refuses to let those aspirations fade away. Lead singer Tate Brooks poetically expresses this internal conflict, singing, "Look i don't know it splits me in half / Loving you is such a good problem to have." The journey is an ongoing ebb and flow, with challenging days potentially outnumbering the good, yet dismissing the creative solace found in doing what you love is akin to concealing a part of your essence. Feeling “lovesick” as the band describes it, perfectly encapsulates that dynamic sentiment.

The amazing thing about going for your dreams when you’re young is that there is so little stopping you; you really have all the time in the world. So as the song reinforces, why not start now? Even when the stakes are through the roof, as long as your heart is in it, you have nothing to lose; something I think all of us need to hear at some point.

“All I Wanna Be” closes out on a high note with a short, but sweet synth solo setting the scene for an exciting adventure on this forthcoming album.

You won’t have to wait long to witness “All I Wanna Be” and the rest of “Born to Rock” live! The Problem With Kids Today will be celebrating their album release this Friday, February 9th, at Cafe Nine. The show starts at 8 p.m. for those 21+ with a $10 cover. Come by you won’t wanna miss it!
